EMBRACE YOUR PLACE

I normally post about photography and my wonderful clients, but I wanted to share a little something about me and my life in between. While scrolling through my social media feed these past few weeks, I have seen good things, bad things, school starting, and the start of the changing of the seasons.
As I scrolled, I noticed we as viewers only see the highlight reels of peoples lives. We only see a picture of someones day. What we don't see is the peoples bad parts in their life, what they may be going through or what they are struggling with.

This post is not a highlight reel. It's been a rough couple weeks adjusting, there is no denying that. My schedule has been full of new jobs, new schedules, new steps, along with frustrations and disappointments. I have struggled with balancing all my jobs and reserving time for family, friends, my fur babies, and most of all not loosing sight of my dreams.

Most of you know that on top of my love for photography, I also have the STRONGEST desire to be a teacher. Throughout my journey to become a teacher, I have had the bumpiest road, with ups and downs. With the downs outweighing the ups and tests getting in the way, I sort of gave up. It left me feeling like I am at the bottom of a mountain with no climbing gear to reach the summit.

With the added "best foot forward" culture, today's social media brings to the table, it can be hard for one to feel comfortable where they currently are in their life/career journey. I often feel the desire to be where I observe others living their best days instead of working on creating my own and being at ease in the current portion of my own journey.

In tough times like these I could easily continue to feel low or call it quits on my goals and dreams, however doing so would teach me nothing. The downs have made me capable of astounding and wonderful things, reminding myself to keep the right mindset. When the going gets tough, whether it's during a rough workout, if we are tired and beaten down from a long and unfulfilled work week, if we feel like no matter how hard we try we just can't seem to get where we hope to be; that's when we must dig our heels in the ground and keep pushing forward in perseverance and faith instead of slowing down. We are all resilient beings but sometimes we need the extra push from ourselves, and others to remind us why we started in the first place.

What Our Clients Are Saying:

"Alana has such a great eye for photo opportunities and then turns those shots into amazing photos that you cherish forever. She completely understood what "look" I was going for in my wedding photos and I can't thank her enough for capturing all the beautiful moments on our big day! I would recommend her for any occasion as she is such a talented photographer!"

"Since I moved here in Cortland, Alana was able to take newborn photos of my son on such short notice. She is absolutely wonderful! My son was a little fussy but thank heavens she had some great tricks up her sleeve to sooth him and continue doing the photo shoot. Best part was I didn't leave my house! The photos came are just precious! Thank you so much!"
