HELLO!
First: Congratulations on becoming parents (or parents AGAIN)!
It is one of the biggest joys on this planet – so simply ENJOY it!
Planning and preparing for a newborn photo session can be confusing, especially if you are a new parent. You probably have a million questions about how a newborn session works.
When is the best time to do the newborn session?
Where should we have the session?
When should we schedule the newborn photography session?
Will the baby be awake or asleep during the photo session?
What if the baby gets hungry during the session?
What should we wear for the photo session?
Can we use props during the session?
To help you, I have compiled a few tips to help us get the best out of your upcoming newborn session!
PLANNING THE SESSION
Scheduling
I recommend that parents schedule their newborn sessions before the baby arrives to make sure they have a spot on my calendar, since I work full time as well! I prefer to book a date 7 to 10 days after your due date. I know that most babies do not arrive on that date, but it gives me an idea of when the session will actually happen.
Arrival Day: Newborn sessions must be scheduled within the first 25 days of life (but that is not always needed). Though, the best time is between 10-20 days after their arrival. Babies tend to do better in the sessions within that time because they sleep most of the time. The more they sleep the easier it is for me to move them around into the sweet sleepy newborn poses.
Location: The newborn sessions take place in your home. I have everything, including wraps, bows, hats, baskets, props, etc.. To sum this up, I will do anything you want me to do.
Babies Love Heat!
Newborns are used to being in 98.6 degree temp of your womb. I want them to be comfortable when I get those cute naked baby shots. Heat also helps them sleep better. I will have the studio heat cranked. A BLOW DRYER IS MAGIC!!

What Our Clients Are Saying:
"Alana has such a great eye for photo opportunities and then turns those shots into amazing photos that you cherish forever. She completely understood what "look" I was going for in my wedding photos and I can't thank her enough for capturing all the beautiful moments on our big day! I would recommend her for any occasion as she is such a talented photographer!"
"Since I moved here in Cortland, Alana was able to take newborn photos of my son on such short notice. She is absolutely wonderful! My son was a little fussy but thank heavens she had some great tricks up her sleeve to sooth him and continue doing the photo shoot. Best part was I didn't leave my house! The photos came are just precious! Thank you so much!"
